Small Spaces and Technology

I came to a place where I had to buy a new printer.  After getting a new computer last semester I have not been able to get the computer and printer to talk to each other.  I tried several different things to get them to talk and they refused.  It should be such a simple task, right?  No, no no!

I needed a printer that met several different criteria.
  • Fit in a small space (height, width and depth)
  • Buttons on the left side of the device
  • Buttons that were easy to read and use in dark lighting
  • Relatively inexpensive
My printer is kept between a wheel well and under the dining room table.  Here it doesn't get kicked around and it fits perfectly.  It's hard to explain that to a salesperson.  I also wanted something that the replacement cartridges were not outrageously priced, but I was unsuccessful in finding such a deal.

When I posed these criteria to the salesperson he was a bit overwhelmed, as anyone would be.  The printer I ended up with will still have to come out of it's storage space when I use it because the place where the paper feeds in and out of is blocked by one of two support structures for the dining room table.
