Work Camping

Several months ago I let management at the park know I was interested in being a work camper. These are positions in the RV Park for people who live in the park. In this park they seem to be maintenance and office work related.

One day last week I received a phone call from management letting me know there was a temporary position (two weeks) available Monday through Friday in the afternoons. I started on Wednesday. In this position it's my job to clean the toilets, showers, laundry room and occasionally check in on the rec room. It's not necessarily exciting, but I find I take more pride in how the park looks than I did before. I'm walking around the park more and more visible for those who are staying. That may or may not be a good thing.

In stead of getting paid by check the funds reduce my rent, which is relatively exciting.

I have a friend who has attempted to encourage me to move out of the park. (I won't budge on my position.) We both got a laugh when I told him about this new job.
