Trailer Park Man

A friend and former co-worker, Roy Griffin, wrote the poem below and shared with me.  He has given me permission to share it with you.

Trailer Park Man

I don’t make very much money
I live in a trailer park home
The way people sometimes look at me
Makes me feel sad and alone
I walk along the shadow's edge
Cast by the western hill
With nothing to say about love,
I hear the whippoorwill

I’ve been shiftless,lowdown, mean
A bully quick to use my fist
I drove away every chance for love
God knows the life I’ve missed
I walk along the shadow's edge
Cast by the western hill
With nothing to say about love,
I hear the whippoorwill

But I’m a creature with a soul
I’ve come to hope there’s grace for me
I’m trying to make up for what I’ve done
But I’m more than my felony
I walk along the shadow's edge
Cast by the western hill
With nothing to say about love,
I hear the whippoorwill

God may be the very best of company (Bridge)
When your soul is full of pain
But polite routines folks don’t much mean
Help keep me steady and sane
I walk along the shadow's edge
Cast by the western hill
With nothing to say about love,
I hear the whippoorwill
