State Technology Behind the Times

I graduated a couple of weeks ago and am now looking for long term employment. I am attempting to capitalize on my time while looking for a job.  Two days a week I am continuing my position at Texas State Career Services as a Counseling Intern.  I enjoy working with the students and alumni.

One morning this week I went to Barton Springs Pool for an aqua jogging workout.  The pool is free until 9 am.  At this time in the morning there are typically serious swimmers or other aqua joggers.  The weather is still warm enough that the 68 degree water is cool, yet refreshing.  I had a good workout.  It was cool being able to watch the sun rise behind the city sky line.

Yesterday I found several state jobs to apply for.  I tried numerous times and a variety of ways to complete the on-line application, yet each time I was met with a glaring red error message.  Apparently state technology has not caught up with the rest of the universe.  The application would have to be filled out on Internet Explorer, which I do not have and will not get.  I have a couple of possible solutions to the dilemma and hope to get the applications in before the closing date.

Also this week I have gathered the paperwork I need to file for my LPC, Intern.  This meant digging through storage and taking an on-line exam.  This morning I walked the paperwork through to the office and gave them the obligatory application fee.

I have a couple of volunteer opportunities later this week.  Both of them are with athletically minded organizations.
