I have been told my Grammy used to love to watch Mary Poppins while she was cooking and maybe specifically when she was canning. She would sing along. That was before movies were available on video and you could watch whatever you wanted whenever you wanted to.
The other day I was cleaning the community bathrooms and stumbled on some great music for housework. It's a band called Devotchka (http://devotchka.net/). I find them to sound sometimes like a circus and sometimes real light and almost flighty. I have never been good at developing images to music, although I know some of you are. Listening to Devotcha I had images of flying over the floor with the mop and swinging from rafters. The lead singer had one grandparent from Sicily and the other was a gypsy. The music seems fitting for those cultures. The music was inspiring and creative. I first heard the music listening to an NPR podcast of All Songs Considered.
