Several years ago I moved from the US to Europe on a short term basis. It was at this point in my life I really experienced that home is what I make of it. I recently bought a travel trailer and have made this my new home. Not only is it an adventure, but others say, "It is a lifestyle." Others who do this are truly part of a subculture. Some people understand it and some people don't.
My first night in my new home was definitely an adventure. This was the night the first Arctic front blew through and I was without heat. The temperatures dipped into the 20's. Now I have heat. I'm not usually long in the shower but now I spend even less time in the shower with a hot water tank that holds 6 gallons.
What do you eat when you full time in an RV? I don't have a microwave. I don't have room for one. I am on a diet that is gluten free and dairy free, so sandwiches are rather out of the question. Yogurt and cereal in the morning are not an option. I have found a hot cereal recently that I can eat and enjoy. Hot liquids help warm the body. My coffee pot takes up half the counter top. My other option is my hot water pot that takes up the other half of my counter top.
So why do this, full time in the RV? To save money. Working full time at a low paying job and going to graduate school to get a job that is not a high paying job. Rent is skyrocketing and it's hard to be able to afford a safe neighborhood. This way I have something affordable and in a few years it's mine. I need to simplify my life anyway.
So to follow are tales from my adventures. Joy is in the journey and this certainly has been a journey!
