Wednesday I was on my way home from work and it seemed to be a day for alternative transportation. I was near a high school and in the lane next to me, coming at me, was a man on a horse! It was a real man on a real horse in the city! It was a busy two lane street, being near a high school. It's a street I've traveled often the last three years. Briefly, I felt as if I had traveled back in time, to an era when horseback was the main form of travel. Then my mind was flooded with questions, questions of curiosity.
Then I made another turn onto a larger street. As I passed the elementary there was my neighbor! He was in the lane opposite me, but on his bicycle. He's an avid bicyclist and will often ride from our neighborhood to Manor. I'm not certain, but speculate that bicycling is his main means of transportation. Kudos to him for having the courage to do it! I'm not comfortable enough with my bicycling skills for such a feat. I panic, really, that vehicles don't see me. Maybe bicycling won't be such a bad way to go, but I'd like to postpone that day for a few years or so.
Later that night I was on my way home from the movie store. I was in a small residential neighborhood and there in the street was a woman dressed in business casual attire. She had on nice pants, nice t-shirt and dress shoes. Not so strange you say? Well, she was doing jumping jacks in the middle of the street. A bit more odd eahh? Then as I drove by I found that she was doing jumping jacks in the street in front of a camera on a tripod. There was no film crew, which would have made her actions seem less out of place in this town.
Sounds a bit like a Dr. Seuss book.
