Rock and Roll

Here's to hoping each of you had a Merry Christmas and will have a Happy New Year.

Last night we had some high winds. I don't know how windy it was but it was windy enough that my house was rocking and rolling. I had the awning down so it was contributing to the trailer catching wind and I could feel it moving. It was a bit unnerving to say the least. I have grown up in West Texas so high and strong winds are not uncommon but when it moves your house that's something new to me. My poor brother and his wife. I called him last night right at 10 to tell me how to roll the awning up. We had unrolled it previously and I had never had to roll it up and parts of the process are totally new to me. The owner's manual does not have instructions in how to do these common tasks. That brother, he's a great guy. I got it rolled up and then never heard the wind again. The winds remind me of Guy Clark's song, "Tornado Time in Texas". The lyrics go something like, the "wind will blow the roof right off of your barn, the tattoo right off of your arm." I was reading a story last night in Texas Music Magazine about Guy Clark, a great writer he is.

I had just been considering how life is different than previously. Previously winds may only rattle my windows and my wind chimes. Currently I have not hung my wind chimes. I have trees now that I can hang them from instead of a balcony. Space is limited. It is interesting how many of our conversations revolve around the TV. Whether it is a favorite TV show or a commercial. So many people start a conversation with, "Have you seen that commercial" or "Have you seen that TV show." It is an adjustment.

Happy New Year
